BOOTLE beat Holker Old Boys Reserves in a dramatic penalty shoot-out to lift the Terry Clinton Memorial Cup at Railway Meadow.

In very warm conditions and at the end of a long season both team could be forgiven for slowing the pace down, but that was not the case in what was a magnificent game.

Steven Pritt and Jack Denwood scored for Bootle in normal time and Craig Warburton grabbed both of Holker’s efforts.

With the scores locked at 2-2 at full-time the cup’s home for the next 12 months was decided by the dreaded spot kicks.

The shoot-out went well past the five allotted spot kicks with Bootle claiming the trophy 8-7 after Holker’s Dave Robinson missed the 18th penalty.

The win was a fitting end to a fantastic run of form for Bootle which has seen them go 18 games unbeaten.

In the West Lancs Premier Division Vickerstown registered a 2-0 win away in their final game of the season at Tempest United. Steve Kewley and Kyle Beach scored a goal apiece to move Vickerstown up to a 13th place finish.

In the second division the game between the two top sides Millom and Leyland finished 5-2 to Millom. Carl Waters fired home four goals and Phil Edmondson also got on the scoresheet.

Waters' four goals sees him finish the season top of the league’s scoring charts with a 30-goal haul, a superb return from the ace marksman.

Furness Cavaliers beat Croston Sports 4-2 and the three points moves them out of the re-election places. Kyle Delves and James Hutton were amongst the scorers for Cavs for whom Chris Benson broke the club's West Lancs League appearance record. Chris has now pulled the shirt on 217 times for the club.

In the one FPL game to take place, Millom Reserves drew 2-2 with Barrow Celtic. Rob Johnson and James Sloan were the Celtic marksmen, Joe Dobson and Andrew Woodburn scoring for Millom.

This seemingly never-ending season finally sees the last FPL games tomorrow night as Kirkby host Millom Reserves and Barrow Celtic visit Vickerstown Reserves.
