BARROW'S Georgia Stanway has been named in the UEFA Women's Champions League 2017-18 all-star squad.

The 19-year-old England ace joins Manchester City team-mate Steph Houghton and a host of other international stars in a 18-strong squad selected by UEFA's Technical Observers.

On hearing of her selection, Stanway tweeted: “Massively shocked and unbelievably proud to have been named in @uwcl team of the season alongside my team-mate @stephhoughton2.”

It is another great accolade for Stanway, whose achievements this year have included winning the Telegraph FA WSL 1 Goal of the Year for her stunning strike against Chelsea.

The former Victoria Juniors and Dowdales School pupil was also shortlisted for the Women’s PFA Young Player of the Year, an award won by Bristol City's 17-year-old forward Lauren Hemp.

Stanway earned a first full England call-up this year and showed impressive form for Man City, helping them reach the UEFA Women's Champions League semi-finals and contend for the Women's Super League crown.
