GEORGIA Stanway had an Under-20s Women's World Cup debut to remember as she fired home a trademark finish against North Korea.
The Barrow teenager found the net on the hour-mark with a ferocious drive from the edge of the area that beat the keeper and found the bottom corner.
Her effort was part of a 3-1 win for the Young Lionesses against the defending champions, with Alessia Russo scoring the other two in the Group B opener in Dinan, watched by England senior women's boss Phil Neville.
Mo Marley's side coped well with the blazing hot conditions in Brittany, with an early effort from Stanway – following a string run at the heart of the Korean defence – going over the bar.
She produced another opportunity as she won the ball deep in the Korea half and reached the edge of the area before unleashing a shot.
The Young Lionesses made the breakthrough just after the half-hour mark, as Lauren Hemp collected a loose ball and played in Russo, who drove low past goalkeeper Kim Yong-Sun.
Hemp hit the post with a header before Stanway pounced for her goal when Korea failed to clear their lines.
The holders then pulled a goal back through a close-range header from substitute Ja Un-Yong, but Russo restored the two-goal lead soon after, stabbing home Hemp's cross after Stanway had set them free.
England's next game sees them up against Brazil on Wednesday afternoon.
