AMATEUR FOOTBALL
VICKERSTOWN won for the first time in the West Lancs Premier Division through two Danny Keenan goals at Stoneclough, writes PAUL WRIGHT.
Dalton United’s good start continued with a 1-0 win at Coppull United thanks to the inevitable goal from Gareth Jones.
In Division One, Crooklands travelled to Haig Avenue and came away with all three points after a very good performance against previously unbeaten Fleetwood Hesketh.
Their scorers were Mike Park (2), Micky Gallagher and Dave Mansergh.
Hawcoat Park, now managed by Paul Stanway, also won away from home, 3-1 at Hesketh Bank.
Their scorers were Conor Erdis, Carl Mackay and Nick Ellis.
Millom could not recover from a disastrous start at home to Tempest United.
They were 2-0 down after five minutes and, despite creating numerous chances, could only score once, though Dan Pattinson.
Stan Casey says the team just need more belief and some luck in front of goal to start picking up points. The imminent return of Carl Waters from the USA may be the catalyst they need.
Furness Rovers managed to lose 3-2 at home to Wyre Villa despite playing well and twice being ahead.
Steve Crompton gave them the lead, but the visitors equalised and a Dean McClarey header made it 2-1 at half-time.
Villa scored twice in the second half to take the points and leave Rovers bottom of the table.
Furness Cavaliers stayed on top of Division Two with a hard fought but well deserved 2-1 home win over Mill Hill St Peters.
The visitors took the lead but Marc Ayres equalised with a penalty before James McGoldrick headed home the winner.
Walney Island are up and running after a 2-0 win at Canal Foot against a disappointing GSK Ulverston Rangers.
Goals in each half, one by Jordan Brough from the penalty spot, and one from James Burns, gave Walney the win.
Mike Ducie was naturally very happy with the result and praised youngsters Mike Carr and Kane Moffatt for good performances.
Despite goals from Chris Platt (2) and Raynor Davies, Askam United lost 6-3 at home to BAC/EE/Springfields.
