As we count down the hours until the match dubbed the "Battle of Britain," we take a look at five of the best clashes between England and Wales.

The teams haven't played each other since Ashley Young's strike gave England all three points in a qualifier for Euro 2012 at Wembley.

1) Wales 4-1 England (May 17, 1980 at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham)

A 25-year wait for a home win against the Three Lions came to an end in the British Championships, which pitted the home nations of Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England against each other up until 1984.

Paul Mariner gave the away side the lead before goals from Mickey Thomas, Ian Walsh and Robbie James put the Dragons in the ascendancy. A own-goal from Liverpool defender Phil Thompson secured a thumping win for Mike England's side.

2) England 2-0 Wales (October 9, 2004 at Old Trafford, Manchester)

The Three Lions made easy work of their British counterparts as an early goal from Frank Lampard and a stunning free-kick from David Beckham secured the three points against Mark Hughes' side.

England went on to win their qualifying group and secure their place at the 2006 World Cup.

Wales finished in a disappointing fifth place with only Azerbaijan beneath them in the table.

3) England 0-1 Wales (May 31, 1977 at Wembley Stadium, London)

Another game in the British Championships saw Mike Smith lead the Dragons to a first away win over their rivals since 1936.

A first-half penalty by Leighton James was enough to separate the two sides.

Wales haven't won against the Three Lions on home turf since that match.

4) Wales 1-0 England (May 2, 1984 at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham)

After the 1980 demolition of the Three Lions, the Dragons had to wait four years until their next win over England.

Manchester United youngster Mark Hughes proved the difference between the two sides as he glanced a header past Peter Shilton to give the Dragons a memorable win.

This proved to be the last meeting between the two sides for 20 years as the British Championships were cancelled after 100 years of matches between the two nations.

5) England 5-1 Wales (November 16, 1966 at Wembley Stadium, London)

Delving back into the history books, the Three Lions, who were celebrating after World Cup success on home turf, thrashed the Dragons 5-1 with goals from Geoff Hurst (2), the Charlton brothers and an own goal from Terry Hennessey.

They failed to go on to win the British Home Championships however as Scotland topped the group.
