The county side have failed to win any of their seven matches – in both league and cup cricket – so far this term.

The three-day game at Jesmond, near Newcastle, is their fourth of six in the Minor Counties campaign.

Ashes 2005 hero Gary Pratt once again captains the team in the absence of Marcus Sharp.

Pratt will, however, be in charge of a side that is without several regular players due to club commitments.

The men hoping to put runs on the board for Cumberland will be James Lowe, Alex Stead, Carl Hey, James Smith, James Beaumont, Mark Robertshaw and wicketkeeper James Cole.

Leading the bowling attack will be Barrow CC captain Daryl Wearing and Paul Hindmarch.

Former Keswick pace ace Hindmarch is a Durham CCC staff player and will be aiming to impress the watching cricket coaches up in the North East.

Also in the attack will be Dan Conway, Stead and Smith.

All-rounders Beaumont and Lowe will provide the spin bowling option.
