VICKERSTOWN continued their march towards the North Lancs and Cumbria League Division Two title with victory at Hawcoat Park.

Hawcoat had first knock and had a moderate day as they were dismissed for 118, with Danny Williams taking 5 for 37 in 11 overs.

In reply, Vickerstown lost three early wickets, but Matt Roskell, with 43 not out, and Andy Janes, 38 not out, saw the Walney side to 120 for 3 to take a big step towards promotion.

Dalton A put hosts Lindal Moor A in to bat and the home side, thanks to Marley Johnson's 54, were all out in the 43rd over for 160. Mike Walker was again among the wickets, taking 5 for 33.

Dalton did not find batting easy, but with Calvin Chapples making 53, the visitors went to the win in the 44th over, scoring 162 for 8. Lindal’s Chris Moore took 3 for 57

Winning the toss, Egremont had a moderate day with the bat at home to Cleator A. Dom Chambers top-scored with 28, but his side were all out for 91. Cleator veteran Ian Clark took 5 for 19 in 10 overs and James Rogers returned 3 for 6 in 5.4 overs.

Cleator cruised to the win making 92 without loss in 13.4 overs. James Rogers finished on 68 not out and Steven Lee 21 not out.

Furness A could only muster 133 all out in 30 overs at Cockermouth A. Cockermouth went to a comfortable win, making 135 for 4 in 30 overs

In the Premier Division, Furness were put in by visitors Keswick and were soon 25 for 3. Skipper Scott Pearcey started the recovery, but after he was out for 30, it was left to Nathan Waterston, who was last out for 66 in the 50th over, to help Furness get to 163 all out. Glen Weightman took 2 for 30 in his 15 overs.

After tea, there was an amazing collapse as Keswick were dismissed for 21 in 12.3 overs, having no answer to the Furness attack. Seth Rance returned 7 for 9, and Peter Lawson 3 for 7.

Cleator were put in by visitors Whitehaven and romped to 296 for 5 in their 50 overs. Daryll Brown was unbeaten on 107, Rob Mason made 88 and Darren Clark 62. Whitehaven's Habib Baloch took 3 for 61 in 15 overs.

Whitehaven had a bad start, with the top five in the order making 56. Adam McGarry made a fighting 41, but his side were all out for 171 in 38 overs. Cleator's Dave Rooney returned 4 for 66.

Cockermouth were 265 for 4 at tea at Dalton as Chris Hodgson top-scored with 75 not out, skipper Gareth White made 64, Alex Grainger 56, and Theo Valeri 50.

In reply, Dalton were 197 for 9 when overs ran out, Jack Singleton unbeaten on 79, and skipper Dan Sharpe making 43. Hodgson completed his good day, taking 4 for 38 in 15 overs.

Leaders Workington were in first against Wigton and were restricted to 170 for 7 in 50 overs. Wigton pro Mike Slack took 5 for 57.

In reply, the visitors' batting was well contained by the Workington bowling attack and were all out for 110 in the 41st over.

In Division One, Haverigg were indebted to Dalton Polius for his 138 not out as they elected to bat at Seascale. There was support from Dale Graham's 39 as the Poolsiders made 257 all out in the 42nd over. Seascale's Danny Lee took 4 for 61 in 15 overs against his former team-mates.

After losing an early wicket, Seascale went to 193 for 5 but lost the last five wickets for 24 to be all out for 217 in the 53rd over. Joe Hammond made 64, Adam Brown 62, and Jack Stubbings 46. Graham, with 4 for 58, and Jordan Postlethwaite, 3 for 56, saw Haverigg home.

Ulverston found runs hard to get against the Kirkby attack, and after their 50 overs were 138 for 8. Shane Lewis, 34, and Paul Storey, 31 not out, were their top contributors. Kirkby's Tom Marshall took 4 for 49.

In reply, Kirkby were soon in trouble and were bowled out in the 30th over for 45. Shane Lewis took 6 for 7 in his seven overs.

An excellent game at Millom saw Lindal Moor in first, reaching 224 for 9 after their 50 overs. Lee Stephens top scored with 51, (with two sixes and five fours), Edward Waind made 49 and Sam Beckman and Paul Wilcock both finished in the 30s. Paul O'Callaghan, with 3 for 39, and Graham Dawson, 3 for 64, had the best bowling figures.

Millom made a good reply, but fell eight runs short at 217 for 7 when overs ran out. Dawson, with 106, and Michael Gill, 74, were the main contributors. The Moor's Mark Daly took 3 for 36 in 15 overs.

Carlisle chose to bat at home to Workington A and skipper Marc Brown made 101 and Alex Raybould 52, taking them to 255 for 8 at tea. Simon James returned 3 for 29 in 15 overs.

In reply, Workington were always struggling and were all out for 88 in the 34th over. Thomas Carlyle took 4 for 11 in 6.5 overs.

In the Northern League Division One, Barrow fell to defeat at home to Leyland, who climbed above them into third as a result.

Put in to bat first, the hosts never got going and only 35 from Dean Williams and 29 from Sam Dutton pushed them along to 115 all out in 48 overs. David Makinson took 4 for 19 for Leyland.

In reply, Leyland chased down their target in 37 overs for the loss of just four wickets, Richardt Frenz top-scoring with 38 not out. Both Javed Khan and Gary Collins took two wickets.

In Division Two, Barrow A lost a low-scoring encounter at Leyland A, who made only 56 when batting first as Paul Riley took 5 for 10.

But Barrow were all out for just 19 as Andrew Jacques took 6 for 6 for the home side.
