HAVERIGG kept the pressure on at the top of the North Lancs and Cumbria League first division with a nine-wicket win over Vickerstown.

The visitors batted first at Poolside on Saturday, but found the going tough with seamer Tom Hawden again in good form with the ball, returning 4 for 14. He was well supported by Jordan Postlethwaite’s 4 for 30 as the Walney side were all out for 99 in the 47th over.

After tea, Haverigg’s West Indian professional Dalton Polius made an unbeaten 58 as they reached a winning 103 for 1 in the 17th over.

It was a rain-affected day for most clubs, with the Seascale versus Millom game one of many to be hit by inclement conditions.

Winning the toss and batting first, Millom had a great day with the bat to reach 381 for 5 at tea.

Graham Dawson struck a superb 137, and with Danny Fallows and Danny Mackie both scoring 59, the scoreboard rattled along.

Rain reduced the Seascale target to 256, but they were 52 for 6 when overs ran out. Millom pro Sameera Sadamal took 4 for 26 in 11 overs.

Ulverston had a difficult day at Workinton A who made 216 for 9 with Adam Chambers making 105, including 14 fours. In reply Ulverston lost wickets regularly, and despite 31 from opener Ben Dryden, the visitors were all out in the 29th over for 117. Ben Scott took 4 for 20 in 6.1 overs.

Lindal Moor were 121 for 5 against Whitehaven when rain caused the game to be abandoned.

Dalton are still searching for their first Premier Division win after putting up a good fight in defeat to reigning champions Workington.

Put into bat, Workington were in form, making 275 for 8 in 50 overs. Callum Moffat made 80 and Andrew Ireland 74. Rain reduced the Dalton target to 207 in 30 overs. Jack Singleton and Jake Rigg both made 50, but Dalton were all out for 164 in the 30th over.

Furness headed to the heart of the Lake District where Keswick were 186 for 5 in the 44th over when the game was abandoned due to rain.

Batting first against Cleator, Wigton made a decent start, but a great spell of 6 for 21 in nine overs from Kavindu Kulasekara saw them struggle to 113 for 7 when rain brought proceedings to an end. Wigton opener Lewis Little made 36.

Cockermouth had first knock against Carlisle and were all out for 210 in the 48th over. Rain reduced Carlisle’s target to 172 in 36 overs and they went to a winning score of 173 for 4 in 35.3 overs.

In the second division a weakened Hawcoat Park of nine players were all out for 50 in 16 overs at Cleator A. Chris Savage made 23.

Cleator’s David Glover took for 29 and Cameron Bell 3 for 18.

In reply openers Gary Hall, with 26, and Steven Lee, 15, took Cleator to 52 without loss in the 14th over.

Batting first at Egremont, Dalton A made 152 for 9 in their allotted overs. Opener Matthew Jones top scored with 38 while Jon-Paul Dixon took 4 for 58 in his 15 overs.

Egremont were at 97 for 3 in the 29th over when rain prevented any further play and the Duckworth/Lewis calculation gave Egremont the win.

The Kirkby batting line-up showed excellent form against Cockermouth seconds and after their 50 overs they were 249 for 7.

Brothers Paul Fugler, with 69, and Mike Fugler, 52 not out, led the way.

Rain reduced the Cockermouth target to 141, but when the overs ran out Kirkby had restricted Cockermouth to 111 for 3 to earn a welcome win.

Stephen Chambers, with 36, and Jack Spiers 34, were the top scorers for the visitors.

Batting first against Lindal A in a third division game reduced to 40 overs, Whitehaven A made a tidy start with openers Charlie Minshaw making 29 and Raghavendra Kurkal 27. But when the overs ran out the visitors were 146 for 7.

Moor openers Chris Scrogham, with 49, and Abe Brown, 38, put their side in the driving seat and they took winning points at 147 for 7 in the 26th over. Whitehaven’s Clark Pattinson took 4 for 11 in six overs.

Elsewhere Haverigg A had a comfortable win at Vickerstown A while Ulverston A conceded their game at Egremont A.
