FURNESS made it three wins from three in the North Lancs and Cumbria League Premier Division as they beat Cleator in a high-scoring match.

Visitors Cleator were put in to bat, and with 66 from Darren Clark and 64 from Kavindu Kulasekara, they were all out for 202 in the 43rd over.

Left-arm spinner Jordan Buchanan, with 4 for 44, in 10.3 overs and sub professional Calvin Savage – making his return to Furness Park – with 4 for 74 in his allotted 15 overs, were the main wicket-takers.

With the bat, Furness made a moderate start and were 37 for 2 when Mark Daly joined opener Nathan Waterston, but when Daly was finally out for 79 the board showed 169 for 3.

Savage and Waterston took their side to the win at 206 for 3, in the 38th over, with Waterston unbeaten on 84.

Dalton fell just short of gaining their first Premier Division win of the season in another high-scoring match.

More than 500 runs were scored at Dalton, where Wigton had first knock and were given a great start by openers Mike Slack, with an unbeaten 129, and Nico Watt, who made 51.

Michael Holliday carried on the high scoring with an excellent 70 to see his side go in to tea with 276 for 3 on the board.

In reply, Dalton’s top order got their side off to a great start, Madawa Warnapura making 65.

Skipper Liam Curwen, at number six, carried on the good work with 54, but two run-outs saw Dalton all out in the 48th over for 250.

For Wigton, pro Mike Slack took 3 for 58 and Jonny Honeyman 3 for 63.

Dalton made up for this disappointment by knocking holders Workington out of the Higson Cup on Sunday.

The home side made 195 for 6, Sri Lankan professional Warnapura making 60 and Joe Braund-Smith 40.

They then bowled out the reigning Premier Division champions for 176, Lewis Woodend grabbing 4 for 36 and Warnapura 3 for 14.

Back to Saturday’s action, and winning the toss and batting first against Workington, Carlisle found themselves 54 for 5 and only made a slight recovery to finish 120 all out in the 44th over.

Workington pro Kaushalya Gajasinghe took 4 for 46 in 14.4 overs.

In reply, Workington were always in command and went to 121 for 4 in the 29th over. Callum Moffat, with 37, and Gajasinghe, with 33, were the top run-makers.

There was no play at Keswick against Cockermouth as the ground was unfit.

In Division One, Workington A had first knock at Poolside and despite 54 from Grant Reid, and 44 from Dave Pearce they were all out for 135.

Thomas Hawdon did most damage for Haverigg with 4 for 7. Dale Graham and Dalton Polius each took three wickets.

Haverigg also found run-making difficult, but a stand of 97 by Jordan Postlethwaite, 72, and Polius, 40, improved the situation and the Villagers went to the win at 136 for 7. Reid took 3 for 15.

In first against Whitehaven, Vickerstown made a decent start, with opener Sam Dixon top-scoring with 47.

But the middle and bottom-orders were soon removed for 110 all out. Whitehaven pro Mohammad Yasin took 5 for 17.

Whitehaven were in no trouble with the bat, winning in the 24th over, making 111 for 2. Stephen Holliday hit 50 not out.

Put into bat at home to Ulverston, Millom were 292 for 6 at tea. In reply, Ulverston were all out for 123.

Lindal Moor were in run-making mode, going to 303 for 8 at Seascale. Professional Kenroy Peters made his third consecutive century, scoring 112, and Callum McDougall made 59.

After losing two early wickets, Seascale made a good recovery, Adam Brown making 78, and Jack Stubbings, 41.

But with little resistance from the tail, Seascale were all out in the 42nd over for 171. Lindal Moor skipper Ed Waind took 6 for 66 in 11.1 overs.

Division Two action saw Egremont make steady progress against Cleator A, and with 69 from Coady Scott and 30 from Dave Raynor, they were all out in 42 overs for 182.

Alan Wishart, with 4 for 38 in 13 overs, and Mark Ponticelli, 3 for 46, were the main wicket-takers.

Cleator made a positive reply, and with 45 from Gary Hall, 44 from Mark Ponticelli, and 42 not out from Tom Geen, they won in the 41st over with 183 for 6.

Egremont’s Sam Thompson took 3 for 31 in nine overs.

A weakened Windscale batted first at Hawcoat Park, and, despite 49 from Jack Barwise, they were all out for 99 in the 34th over.

In reply, Hawcoat Park raced to 102 for 2 in the 14th over, Cam McDougall making 52.

Rob Fugler made 51 as Kirkby were all out for 152 at home to Furness seconds. Skipper Sam Stephens grabbed 5 for 40.

Furness made a winning reply of 153 for 3, with Wyll Stanway 55 not out.

There was no play in the Cockermouth A v Dalton A match due to the ground being unfit.

Taking first knock against a weakened Haverigg A in their third division match, Lindal Moor A ran riot to total 336 for 2. Chris Scrogham made 172 and Bradley Stephens 118 not out.

In reply, Haverigg were all out in the 36th over for 100, Chris Moore taking 4 for 8 and Eve Thomas, 3 for 9.

Ulverston A, in first against Vickerstown A, made 116 and then dismissed their opponents for 90.

Millom A conceded their game against Whitehaven A.

Other Higson Cup results saw Carlisle beat Millom, Haverigg defeat Lindal Moor and Wigton triumph at Cockermouth.
