LINDAL Moor continued their 100 per cent start to the North Lancs and Cumbria League Division One season as Kenroy Peters starred with the ball at Pennington Lane.

The Moor decided to bat first and had to work hard for runs, with Paul Wilcock top-scoring with 38 as they finished on 149 for 9 after a reduced 44 overs.

Tomas Hawdon again impressed with the ball to take 6 for 34 in 11 overs for the Poolsiders.

Haverigg failed to take advantage of a small target, losing wickets regularly as half the side were out with only 19 on the board.

Simon Bickerstaffe, with 25 not out, led a slight recovery, but the visitors were all out in 26.1 overs for 78.

Lindal professional Kenroy Peters took 6 for 25 in 13 overs, and skipper Edward Waind returned figures of 3 for 20 in 5.1 overs.

At Priory Road, visitors Vickerstown were put in to bat and an opening partnership of 71 between Sam Dixon (47) and skipper Gareth Benson (29) gave them a good start.

However, 71 for 1 soon became 91 for 6, and it was left to John Burns, with 27, and Peter Lee, 22 not out, to give Vickerstown a defendable 158 all out in the 45th over.

Daffyd Griffith, with 3 for 16 in 3.3 overs, Gareth Yates, 3 for 39, and Shane Lewis, 3 for 59 – each bowling 15 overs – did an excellent job for Ulverston.

With the bat, Ulverston were rocking at 43 for 3, but Lewis at number five made a match-winning 55 not out as Ulverston made 159 for 7 in the 39th over. Benson took 4 for 49 in 14 overs and Matthew Roskell 3 for 39 in nine overs

Millom fell short of victory at Whitehaven, despite restricting their hosts to 155 all out. In first, Haven lost an early wicket, but 47 from opener Dom Chambers and 34 from pro Mohammad Yasin helped them to a defendable total. Graham Dawson returned 4 for 12 from 11 overs.

After losing a quick wicket, Millom pro Sameera Sadamal, with 49, and skipper Ian Swarbrick, 39, put them in a winning position, but the rest of the side made only 36 runs between them as they were all out for 134 in the 31st over.

Yasin took 5 for 39 and Habib Baloch 4 for 47, each from 12 overs.

Workington A defeated Seascale at home, as a stand of 103 by Liam Hazzard, 61, and Callum Sutton, 53, saw them side to 170 for 8 when overs ran out. Steve Brown Snr took 3 for 46 in 10 overs.

Seascale made a dreadful start and were in deep trouble at 36 for 6. A battling 33 from Danny Lee brought about a slight recovery, but they could only total 93 for 9. David Pearce took 6 for 37 in 13 overs.

In the Premier Division, Furness retained their 100 per cent record, despite rain affecting play at Carlisle.

The visitors were put in to bat, and after their reduced 30 overs were 167 for 6.

Garry Thompson, 40 not out, and Sam Dutton, with 33, were their top-scorers. Alex Raybould took 4 for 37

After a good start, Carlisle were 114 for 3, but the middle and lower-orders were never comfortable and struggled against the Furness attack to be all out in the 30th over for 138. Ben Davidson and skipper Marc Brown each made 41.

With the ball, Jordan Buchanan took 5 for 13 in 5.2 overs, well supported by Mark Daly, who returned 3 for 39 in 9 overs.

Workington also remain unbeaten in the league, as they won at Cleator.

Dalton fell just short of pulling off a fine run-chase at Cockermouth.

The home side's top-order showed their best form of the season, and were 180 for 7 when overs ran out. Ian Buchanan, 38, Alex Grainger, 37, and Gareth White 33, were the main contributors.

Adnan Malik took 5 for 59 in his 15 overs.

Rain reduced Dalton's target to 177 in 48 overs, but opener Jack Singleton, with 31, was the only top-order batsman to make a score.

Skipper Liam Curwen, batting at seven, made 45 – with two fours and four sixes – and number nine Jon Bell added 23 in a great effort to get the win.

Dalton were all out for 164 in 37 overs, as Chris Hodgson took 5 for 63 in his 15 overs.

Wigton completed a 10-wick win at home to Keswick, as openers Nico Watt, with 54, and Mike Slack, 32, saw them reach a reduced target.

In Division Two, Hawcoat Park were all out for 168 in 43 overs at Dalton A, mainly due to James Grimshaw's innings of 57.

In reply, Dalton lost wickets regularly and were all out in the 25th over for 66. Callum Lucas returned figures of 6 for 34.

Egremont made a good start at home to Kirkby, with Shaun Bostock striking 44 and opening partner Coady Scott 39. However, the remaining batting struggled somewhat, and at tea they were 166 for 9.

Kirkby's Pat McCormack took 4 for 25 in seven overs and Mike Etchells had 3 for 32 in 13 overs.

A weakened Kirkby side were soon in trouble, and Etchells was top-scorer with 36 as they were all out for 127 in the 31st over. Sam Thompson took 5 for 32 in eight overs.

Furness A were victors at home against Cleator A.

In Division Three, Haverigg A were indebted to an innings of 127 not out from James Newton as they defeated Egremont A.

The hosts lost both openers with only five runs on the board, but number three Newton saw them to a total of 188 for 7.

In reply, Egremont lost two early wickets, but a good stand by Owen Thompson, 51, and Sam Farrar, 31, improved matters. However, with nobody else reaching double-figures, Egremont were all out for 120 in the 40th over.

Haverigg bowled well, with Anthony Johnson taking 3 for 21, Sam Huddleston 3 for 22, and Matty Jackson 3 for 41.

Ulverston A claimed a narrow win at Millom A, with openers Derek Harker, 54, and Saqib Ghumman, 39 – as well as 50 from Waqar Saadat – seeing them to 176 for 7 in their allotted overs. David Singleton took 4 for 58 in nine overs for the hosts.

In reply, Millom made a great effort but fell just nine runs short of the win, being 168 all out in the 39th over. Connor Sykes made 42 and David Singleton 37. William Guy returned 3 for 37.

Whitehaven A chased down a target of 130 at Vickerstown A.

After losing three early wickets very cheaply, it was left to the Rainey Park side's Joshua Francis, who made 61 not out with seven fours, and Mark Humphries, 35, to help them to 129 for 5 in their 40 overs.

Whitehaven's opening bowler Guy Pattinson took 4 for 23 in his 10 overs.

After tea, the visitors made a steady start, with opener Charlie Minshaw top-scoring with 40, and went to the win in the 26th over, making 130 for 7. Arnie Luxon, with 3 for 24, and opening bowler Ben Spencer, 3 for 45 , did a good job for the home side.
