LINDAL Moor won the battle of first against second in the North Lancs and Cumbria League Division One.

In first at Pennington Lane, Millom were soon in trouble at 12 for 3, and were eventually all out in the 37th over for 88.

Lindal seamer Craig Crawford claimed excellent figures of 6 for 23.

In reply Sam Beckman, with 33, and West Indian professional Kenroy Peters, 30, saw Moor to a comfortable win at 91 for 4 in the 20th over.

Furness’s Premier Division title hopes suffered a blow as they lost at struggling Cocklermouth.

Scott Pearcey’s side went into the game against the bottom club unbeaten all season, but they came away empty-handed, meaning Workington extended their lead at the top.

Furness had first knock, but recent form went out of the window, as, after a goodish start, wickets fell regularly, and they were all out in the 44th over for 130.

Nathan Waterston top scored with 33.

Cockermouth’s Chris Hodgson took 4 for 13 in 7.3 overs.

Cockermouth’s reply started badly, but when Chris Hodgson joined opener Gareth White the game swung Wigton’s way.

White went for 32, but Hodgson remained unbeaten on 39, as Cockermouth went to 132 for 5 in the 43rd over, and an unexpected 10 points.

Winning the toss at Dalton, Cleator’s decision to bat was a good one as they were 246 for 4 in their 50 overs, Darren Clark making an unbeaten 156.

Dalton never matched the runs per overs needed and were all out in 45 overs for 144.

Reigning champions Workington were at Wigton and batting first were 207 for 7 at tea. Opener Greg Platten top scored with 94 and Callum Sutton made 34.

Wigton’s Jonny Honeyman took 4 for 63 in 12 overs.

In reply Wigton made an excellent start.

Mike Slack posted another 50, and with good support from Theo Manihera with 48 and Nico Watt, 38, they came very close to inflicting Workington’s second defeat falling just three runs short of victory at 205 for 5, when the overs ran out.

Keswick decided to bat first at Carlisle and with steady batting made 230 for 7 in their 50 overs.

In reply Carlisle took control and went to the win in the 45th over, making 233 for 5.

Workington A won the toss and batted first in their Division One match against Vickerstown.

This was mainly due to Nick Wood’s 69, and the home side were all out in the 49th over for 177.

Vickerstown’s Isaac Whitehall returned an excellent 5 for 38 in 12 overs.

After tea Vickerstown had a bad day with the bat and were all out for 32 in the 16th over.

Workington’s Ben Scott, with 5 for 6 in 7 overs, and Adam Chambers, 5 for 22 in 7.4 overs, brought about an early finish.

There was a tight game at Haverigg where Ulverston had first knock and were 189 for 5 when the overs ran out. Owen Dryden made 54 not out and David Blain 43. In reply Haverigg had to work hard for their runs, but 67 from Glen Chesher, 59 not out from Tom Hawdon, and 50 from Jordan Postlethwaite saw their side to the win at 193 for 7 with one ball to spare. Ulverston’s M Humnnan returned 4 for 55.

Put into to bat at Whitehaven, Seascale struggled for runs.

Adam Brown top scored with 33 and the village side were all out for 110 in the 37th over. Whitehaven’s Habib Baloch took 4 for 44 in his 15 overs.

In reply Whitehaven lost an early wicket, but 38 from opener Stephen Holliday, 37 not out from Mohammad Yasin and 23 not out from Jonathan Bruce, saw Whitehaven win in the 20th over at 111 for 2.

In the second division Cleator A squeezed to a narrow win against Dalton A.

Millom A chose to bat in their third division match against Lindal A but struggled to 93 all out in 39 overs.

League leaders Lindal Moor were always in command and won in the 22nd over at 94 for 5.

Elsewhere Egremont A beat Vickerstown A by seven wickets and Ulverston A defeated Haverigg A.
