LINDAL continue to set the pace in North Lancs and Cumbria Division One after a seven-run win over Haverigg at Pennington Lane, writes COLIN BICKERSTAFFE.

The Moor batted first in the battle of the opening weekend winners and made a good start.

Mark Daly – man-of-the-match on the opening weekend against Ulverston – was again in the runs with 72 and Paul Clarke made 32 as they were all out for 175 in the 44th over.

Haverigg's Dale Graham returned 4 for 26 in 10.1 overs and professional Dalton Polius took 3 for 42 in 15 overs.

Haverigg also started well, with openers Drew Postlethwaite (50) and Robert Bell (41) scoring well.

Jordan Postlethwaite made 33 at number four and the visitors were well placed.

However, good bowling by Edward Waind and two run outs gave Lindal Moor the game, as Haverigg were all out for 168, with six overs left in the game.

Waind returned personal best figures of 6 for 26 in 13 overs.

Millom could not made it two wins from two as well, as they batted first against visitors Ulverston and struggled throughout their innings.

They were all out in the 34th over for 100, with Oliver Pachul top-scored with 22.

Ulverston stalwarts Stuart Cooper, with 4 for 26 in 9.5 overs, and Gareth Yates, with 3 for 29 in 15 overs, were too good for the home batsmen.

After tea, Ulverston quickly lost both openers, but Yates, with 59 not out and Cooper, 33 not out, saw Ulverston to an eight wicket win in the 16th over.

Carlisle inflicted a heavy defeat on Kirkby at the Community Centre.

The North Cumbrians batted first and were reduced to 62 for 5. But Marc brown led a good recovery which saw the visitors to 246 all out. Brown made 146 and Chris Vever 46. Kirkby's Joe Alexander took 3 for 40 in 10 overs.

Kirkby lost their first wicket at 34, but slumped to 77 all out in the 26th over. James Thornton top-scored with 23, while Carlisle’s Alex Raybould took 5 for 18 and Alex Calmy 3 for 27

Seascale took maximum points at Workington A.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, and their batsmen had another good day.

With Paul Knott making 53 and Robin Sparshott 51, they were 238 for 8 when overs ran out. Workington's Dan Rice took 3 for 52.

Workington made a spirited reply, with Andrew Reed making 79 and Liam Hazzard 71 as they were 186 all out in the 45th over.

Jack Stubbings, with 4 for 11, and Danny Lee, 3 for 38, just kept Seascale in control.

Premier Division champions Furness fell to defeat at Cleator as their batting line-up found runs hard to come by, as they were all out for 101.

Dave Rooney took 6 for 13 and Darren Clark 4 for 43.

Cleator also found batting a problem, but with 55 from Darrell Brown, were eventual winners at 103 for 8. Furness pro Seth Rance took 3 for 37.

Dalton claimed a first win since their return to the top-flight as they triumphed at Wigton.

The hosts were put in to bat and would be disappointed to be dismissed for 91 in the 45th over. Dalton's Liam Steele took 6 for 29 in an important spell.

The visitors produced an excellent reply, racing to 93 for 1 in 26.5 overs, with Jack Singleton unbeaten on 60.

Cockermouth skipper Gareth White carried his bat at Whitehaven as he made 132 in a total of 235 for 5. Matthew Sempill hit 37 in support.

In reply, Whitehaven batted with determination to be 193 for 5 in their 50 overs.

Keswick were all out for 132 in 44 overs at Workington, who went to a comfortable win at 133 for 4 in 31 overs.

In Division Two, Vickerstown lost two early wickets at home to Egremont, but Craig Daly, with 72 off 80 deliveries, and John Burns, with 43 off 30 deliveries, helped them to be all out for 205 in the 48th over.

Egremont lost early wickets to be 16 for 4. Despite Shaun Bostock making 64, they were all out for 135 in the 42nd over. Gareth Benson and George Scott each took three wickets

Dalton A had first knock in their home game with Hawcoat Park, but despite 45 from Ross Peoples and 24 from Jacob Rigg, were all out in the 36th over for 100. Peter Thompson took 4 for 31.

In reply, Hawcoat made a steady start before losing four wickets in a short time. With 39 not out from Callum Lucas, they went to the win in the 24th over at 102 for 4. Dalton's Matthew Holmes returned 4 for 26 in 10 overs.

Furness A batted first at home to Cleator A and were all out in the 32nd over for 118.

Cleator just fell short of the win, being dismissed for 110 in the 31st over.

In the Northern League Division One, professional Kaustubh Pawar starred as Barrow built on their victory over Preston with a winning draw at St Annes.

Pawar made 124 not out as Barrow batted first and totalled 272 for 7 in their 50 overs. There was strong support from Sam Dutton, with 76.

In reply, St Annes avoided outright defeat as they hung on at 207 for 8 when overs ran out. Greg Reynolds took four for 42 in nine overs.

Barrow A were beaten at Ernest Pass in Division Two, as St Annes A chased down their 142 target with almost 15 overs to spare.

Robin Adams top-scored for the home side with 27, while Sam Henderson took 3 for 40 in the Fleetwood reply.
