LIAM Livingstone’s dream First Class debut for Lancashire was completed yesterday when the Red Rose county stormed to victory over Nottinghamshire.

Livingstone’s top score 70 in the first innings of the County Championship Division One opener laid the foundations for a resounding eight-wicket win at Old Trafford.

It was a tale of two new faces shining for Lancashire, with Kiwi seamer Neil Wagner taking 11 wickets on his debut.

Barrow CC product Livingstone came to the crease on the second day at Old Trafford with the home side in a bit of trouble at 156 for five, still trailing Notts by 86 runs.

But the 22-year-old’s thrilling innings changed the course of the game as he became only the fifth Lancashire player batting at number seven to score a half-century on debut.

His 124-ball innings, which included seven fours and lasted more than three hours, helped Lancashire to 332 all out and a first-innings lead of 90.

Nottinghamshire then collapsed to 175 all-out in the second innings, leaving the home side beginning yesterday’s fourth and final day needing 86 runs to win, which they reached before lunch for the loss of two wickets.
