KIRKBY survived a scare on Walney to keep their title hunt in he North Lancs and Cumbria League Division Two.

The Villagers would have been disappointed at tea ,having been dismissed for 110 by hosts Vickerstown, with Danny Williams taking 6 for 7.

However, the home side also found run-making difficult, with the exception of Peter Lee, with 45 not out. They were all out for 98 to give Kirkby 10 valuable points in the promotion charge.

With steady batting all down the order, Lindal Moor A were all out for 185 in the 43rd over against Cleator A. Skipper Andy Baxter top-scored with 57, while Cameron Bell took 3 for 34 and Rhees Hughes 3 for 47.

In reply, the Cleator top-order had a great day. Opener Rhees Hughes, with 90, and Scott Kiggins, with 30, gave their side a great start and they went to a comfortable win at 189 for 4 in the 31st over.

At Lanercost, Hawcoat Park were 149 all out at tea. Chris Savage top-scored with 34 and Chris Blagden took 3 for 20 and Ed Coombe 3 for 23.

With overs lost to rain and bad light, the Lanercost target was reduced to 105 and they won the game at 107 for 7. Hawcoat Park's Callum Lucas took 5 for 37 in 10 overs.

Cockermouth had first knock at home to Furness and, wih 51 from Tom Norman, were 161 for 3 off 37 overs when rain stopped play.

The weather did the Furness first team's quest for the Premier Division title a favour on a good weekend for the Oxford Street side.

While they were beating Cockermouth, leaders Keswick saw rain halt their quest for maximum points against Workington.

Furness batted first at home to Cockermouth and had 236 for 4 on the board at tea.

Professional Calvin Savage continued his big scoring with 65 not out, while Sam Stephens made 48, and three other batsmen were in the 30s. Matthew Sempill took 3 for 82 in 14 overs, and pro Masood conceded onlt 27 runs in his 15 overs.

Cockermouth made a disastrous start to their reply, with the top-five making only 26 between them as Peter Lawson – who ended with 3 for 36 from nine overs – and Savage cleaned them up. An excellent recovery by Fahad Masood, with 88, and Matt Stables, with 29, saw Cockermouth total 181 when they were all out in the 41st over.

At Fitz Park, Keswick batted first against Workington and were 213 for 4 when rain stopped play. Glen Weightman and professional Geeth Kumara both made 63 and Ben Sharp 41

Wigton were 227 for 8 against visitors Haverigg when rain prevented any more play there. Nico Watt made 111 and Mike Holliday 52

The only other game to finish in the Division was at Cleator, where Whitehaven batted first, but not for long as they collapsed from 19 for 1 to 22 for 9 and were all out for 35. Darren Clark bowled 8.3 overs, with four maidens to take 9 for 17.

Cleator won with 37 for 3, James Rogers making 21 not out and Habib Baloch taking 3 for 9.

In Division One, Carlisle batted first at Ulverston and were all out for 229, Justin Greaves making 90 and Tom Carlyle 72. Ulverston pro Majid Jehangir took 4 for 48 and Stuart Cooper 4 for 75.

In reply Ulverston were all out for 108, Gareth Yates top-scoring with 37. Greaves and Carlyle followed their successful batting with effective bowling, each taking 3 for 26

Egremont were 132 all out at leaders Dalton, with Jack Hodgson making 36 and Gavin Parkinson 32 not out. Dalton's Adam Gibson took 3 for 38 in his 15 overs and JP van Aswegan 3 for 43.

In reply, Dalton had to work hard for the win, but Mike Hargreaves, with 42, and Dan Sharp, 32 not out, saw them home at 136 for 4.

There were a lot of runs at Millom, where Lindal Moor made 280 for 7 in their 50 overs.

Paul Clarke top-scored with 94, with good support from Mark Daly, with 61, and Lee Hogg, with 48. Best with the ball for Millom was promising spinner Jack Thompson, with 3 for 74 in his 14 overs.

In reply, Millom lost an early wicket but the rest of the top and middle-orders took them to a nail biting win in the last over at 283 for 6. Pro Saliya Saman made 68, Michael Gill 67 and Richard Arnold 46 not out. Another good spinner – just a bit older than Thompson – John Atkinson, took 3 for 59 in his 15 overs

Workington made 191 for 9 at home to Seascale. Jordan Whinn top-scored with 72.

Rain reduced the Seascale target to 132 and they fell just seven runs short at 125 for 7, with Danny Lee making 40.
