NATHAN Waterston capped a stellar season with Furness CC as he finished top of the North Lancs Premier Division batting averages and scooped the league's under-21s player-of-the-year gong.

Waterston finished the campaign – in which Furness finished as runners-up to Workington in the league – with 411 runs at an average of 58.71. He hit three 50s and had a highest score of 84 not out across his 111 innings.

That saw him finish above Cleator's Darren Clark in the averages, though the West Cumbrian could console himself with being the division's highest run-scorer by some distance.

Clark's 722 runs from 16 innings saw him finish with an average of 55.54, and included two centuries and four 50s, with a highest score of 156 not out. He was also named the Premier Division player-of-the-year.

Waterston's Furness team-mate Seth Rance – the New Zealand limited-overs international – topped the Premier Division wicket-taking tallies, claiming 45 victims, including four five-wicket hauls.

He was pipped to top place in the averages by Workington professional Kaushalya Gajasinghe, who 38 wickets at 10.47, just better than Rance's 10.71.

Workington's Andrew Ireland was the top amateur, with 38 wickets at 10.74.

In Division One, Andrew Dawson, who helped Millom to promotion, enjoyed double individual honours, as he was named player-of-the-year and topped the bowling averages.

Dawson ended the campaign – which saw Millom win the title and the Sowerby Cup – with 42 wickets at an amazing average of 8.86.

Whitehaven professional Mohammad Yasin topped the wicket-taking table, with 52 at 10.17.

Kirkby's Fugler brothers, Paul and Rob, hit their way to the top of the Division Two batting averages – in first and second respectively – ahead of divisional player-of-the-year Callum Muncaster, of Hawcoat Park, who was also fifth in the bowling averages.

Andrew Dodds, of Cockermouth A, was the top bowler, with Kirkby's Mark Etchells the leading wicket-taker.

Chris Scrogham was Division Three player-of-the-year, after finishing top of the batting averages for Lindal Moor A, with Whitehaven A's Stuart Whitelock the best bowler.

Each of the divisions also had a wicket-keeping award, with Cockermouth's Gareth White taking it in the top-flight with 17 catches and seven stumpings.

Millom's Danny Fallows (17 catches and two stumpings), Kirkby's Paul Fugler (seven catches and one stumping) ad Whitehaven A's Charlie Minshaw (nine catches and three stumpings) were the top glovesmen for the other divisions.
