FURNESS kept up the pressure on North Lancs and Cumbria League leaders Workington with a six-wicket win at Dalton.

Dalton batted first in a rain-affected game reduced to 64 overs, and were all out for 108. Joe Braund-Smith top scored with 30. Seth Rance, Peter Lawson and Jordan Buchanan each took three wickets.

In reply Furness won by six wickets, at 109 for 4, Michael Gadsden making 39.

Dalton professional Madawa Warnapura took 3 for 24 in 11 overs.

Victory allowed Furness to reduce the gap on Workington, whose game at Keswick was a victim of the weather.

Batting first against Carlisle, Wigton were 212 for 9 in their 50 overs, Mikey Hill making 55, and Kieran Little 50.

Rain reduced Carlisle’s target to 191 off 44 overs. They had made 179 for 5 off 39.2 overs when rain caused the game to be abandoned, and the Duckworth Lewis calculation made Carlisle winners. Carlisle skipper Marc Brown made 68 not out.

In a reduced overs game Cleator, put into bat by Cockermouth, were 106 for 7 in their 33 overs. Cockermouth went to a comforable win, making 107 for 4 in 29 overs.

Despite the rain overnight and during the morning, the Haverigg versus Millom Division One derby started on time. The Poolsiders were in first and with 51 from Dalton Polius, totalled 174 for 8 at tea.

Millom pro Sadamal took 4 for 66 in his 15 overs.

In reply Millom batted steadily, Michael Gill’s 43, and an unbeaten 34 from Graham Dawson, saw Millom go to 175 for 5 in the 48th over, Jordan Postlethwaite taking 3 for 48.

Runs were hard to come by at Lindal, and the Moor were restricted to 134 for 8, Sam Beckman top scoring with 38.

Ulverston’s Gareth Yates returned 4 for 24. Ulverston found the home side’s attack hard to handle and were all out for 37, Kenroy Peters taking 6 for 11 and Craig Crawford, 4 for 21.

Vickerstown batted first at Seascale and after 43 overs were 167 for 9. Andy Janes made 57 and Seascale’s Steve Brown jnr took 3 for 27.

The Seascale innings was dominated by Adam Brown with his 100 not out, as his side won with 171 for 3 in the 30th over.

In first against Hawcoat Park in their Division Two match Kirkby made 107 all out in 42.5 overs. Matthew Bruce, 38 and Rob Fugler 33, were the main contributors. Callum Lucas took 3 for 15 in 11 overs.

Duckworth Lewis gave Hawcoat Park a target 89 in 34 overs, and they won in the 31st over making 89 for 8. Mike Etchells took 4 for 31 and brother Mark 4 for 43.

* A fantastic eight-wicket haul from first team rookie Sam Henderson earned Barrow a much-needed Northern League victory at Lancaster.

Henderson claimed 8 for 47 as Lancaster made 146 for 9 at Lune Road in a Division One match reduced to 29 overs each.

Captain Toby Mowat top scored with 38, and opener Dean Williams, 37, and Greg Reynolds, 29 not out, were the other main contributors as Barrow reached a winning 150 for 6 in 27 overs.

Barrow A lost by nine wickets at home to Lancaster A.
