BIG-HITTING batsman Liam Livingstone has been named in the England Lions squad for this winter.

The Barrow CC product, who has enjoyed a breakthrough year with Lancashire in the County Championship, is part of a 30-man party.

The Lions will have training camps in Sandhurst, Loughborough and Dubai in November and December and will play white-ball matches against the UAE and a three-day game against Afghanistan.

Livingstone, 23, has been an ever-present in the Red Rose side in their return to the County Championship Division One and made his Lions bow in a One-Day series against Sri Lanka A and Pakistan A earlier this summer. He hit 64 from 60 balls in one match against the latter.

He has scored two centuries in the four-day game so far in 2016, and has 787 runs at an average of 56.21 in the Championship. At one point, he led the divisional averages.

In the Twenty20 format, he set a new record for Lancashire when hitting a half-century off just 22 balls against Yorkshire – though Jos Buttler would go on to break that mark later in the season.

He also came within two runs of a maiden List A century when dismissed for 98 against Derbyshire in the Royal London Cup.

Livingstone returned to his hometown to play for Barrow against Kendal in the Northern League earlier this month, during a break from playing for Lancashire.

The full England Lions squad is as follows: Nick Gubbins (Middlesex), Keaton Jennings (Durham), Tom Alsop (Hampshire), Daniel Bell-Drummond (Kent), Tom Westley (Essex), Joe Clarke (Worcestershire), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Liam Dawson (Hampshire), Ollie Rayner (Middlesex), Jack Leach (Somerset), Sam Curran (Surrey), Tom Curran (Surrey), Toby Roland-Jones (Middlesex), Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire), James Fuller (Middlesex), Craig Overton (Somerset), Stuart Meaker (Surrey).
