WEST Shore produced the standout result in the Alan Myerscough Ulverston and District Bowling League Division Two.

They made the short hop across Jubilee Bridge to Barrow Island and returned with an excellent 11-4 win.

Andy Boardman was in terrific form, with a 21-6 victory, with Dougie Day playing a supporting role with his 21-12 success.

Terry Marshall produced a 21-13 result for the Island and, in a great tussle at the top of the sheet, Steve Hunter managed to overcome Steve Porter by the narrowest of margins, 21-20.

All the other matches in the division resulted in home wins.

Salthouse A cruised to a 12-2 victory over the Police and look like they could be title contenders come the end of the season.

Four players recorded single-figure successes, with Ron Crompton, 21-5, and Paul Tomkinson, 21-6, the pick of the bunch.

The evergreen duo of Derek Buck and Dave Little showed they still know how to send them as they won for the Police.

Askam A shared the games with Coop A at the village green, but took the aggregate points and the game 8-6 thanks in part to in-form Norman Milburn winning 21-7. Most of the games could have gone either way.

Walney Park A and West Mount also fought out a close game, with the Island side triumphing 7-5 in games, but only taking the aggregate by 12 chalks to claim the match 9-5.

Ian Dalton was top performer for the Park. However, with Ian Littlewood and Dave Watterson registering good wins for West Mount, it went to the wire.

Hawcoat Park A and Dalton CC A met at Hawcoat Lane, with the home side taking the spoils 10-4. They look strong down the sheet this year and will be looking to bounce back from relegation at the first time of asking.

Ian McBride led the way with his 21-7 victory, backed up by Ron Woods and Mike Bowyer, both 21-8. John Sharples, also 21-8, was in terrific form for the Dalton side.

Roose A were up against it from the start travelling to Kings Head a man short, and Geoff Critchley was in fine form for the Ulverston outfit, winning 21-4 to make the task even harder.

Despite Ian Gomersall recording a 21-14 victory and Roose taking all three tight games, they still found themselves on the wrong side of a 10-4 defeat.

All captains are asked to note that Ulverston Cons have withdrawn from Division Two due to a lack of players.

Any games already played will be deleted from the records and all their remaining fixtures will now be byes for their scheduled opponents.
