WALNEY Park A and Ulverston Cons remain unbeaten after the first two games of the Furness Senior Citizens’ Division Two season.

Walney Park dispatched West Mount B 10-0, with single-figure wins coming from Tony Walker, Ken Hackett and Neil McMillan.

For their part, Ulverston Cons triumphed 9-2 at Askam A, with Ray Postlethwaite and Eric Shaw among their winners.

While their first-team were winning, the Cons A-team were losing by the same margin at home to Barrow Island A, for whom Keith Wilson was in good form, with support coming from Barry Crawford and Jack Adams.

There were contrasting fortunes for the two Co-op sides.

The A-team lost 7-3 at Roose, but the B-team beat neighbours Hawcoat Park B 7-3 at home.

In Roose’s case, there were victories for Mike Irving and Ken Delves, with Ronnie Smith and Stan Whitehouse shining for Co-op B.

King Alfred A had an emphatic 9-1 win when hosting Salthouse A, with telling contributions from Frank Holmes, Jim Murray and Tony George.

West Mount A were successful against West Shore A, triumphing 7-3 with single figure successes from William Heaton and Neil McKinnon for the Mount and Pat Fogarty for the Biggar Bank side.

In Division One, three sides have won both their games to date.

King Alfred head the trio, followed by Askam and reigning champions Hawcoat Park.

King Alfred won 7-4 at Salthouse, where Peter Roberts and Steve Hogg were the Alfred’s best, with Peter Millar scoring well for Salthouse.

Askam were 8-3 victors at Hawcoat Park A, with Roy Whatley and Peter Richards leading the way.

Meanwhile, Hawcoat Park’s first team came out on top 8-3 at Cavendish Park against Barrow Island, with Bill McLaughlin and Alan Fay among the points.

Dalton CC were 8-2 winners against newly-promoted Glaxo, with Richard Wearing and Kenny Judge picking up single-figure triumphs.

West Shore and West Mount shared the games four each at Biggar Bank, with the home side claiming the aggregate points to win 6-4.

Kirkby put last week’s defeat behind them as they beat Dalton CC A 7-3.

Roose lost 7-3 at Co-op SC and find themselves lower than they would have anticipated following their early losses.

The remaining match saw Walney Park return from their visit to the notoriously tough Lindal green having shared the games four each and claimed the aggregate points to win 7-4.

There were single-figure wins for the Park’s Matt McKellar and Stan Halesworth, a feat repeated by Eric Andrews and Tom Blackledge for Lindal.
