WITH eight weeks of the Furness and District Women’s Bowling League season played, a familiar pattern is emerging.

Ulverston Cons and King Alfred are ahead in the league and occupy the top three places in the merit.

Ulverston Cons won 7-5 at Askam but King Alfred replied with an 11-0 victory at home to Roose A, leaving seven points between the teams.

King Alfred A are also doing well in Division Two, leading Hawcoat Park A by four points, with West Mount five points behind.

In the merit Pat Caine from Askam A is leading with Hawcoat Park A’s Rita Tongue in second place.

King Alfred A and Hawcoat Park A were both beaten this week on the aggregate. King Alfred lost by eleven chalks to Barrow Island and West Mount beat Hawcoat by five chalks.
