RED River continue their dominance of Ulverston and District Bowling League Division Two, with the focus now on who will take the second promotion spot.

Leading the chase in the Alan Myerscough-sponsored league are are Ulverston Cons, who had a tremendous 11-3 win over Kirkby. The result leaves the village side a point behind them in third.

Big winners for the Cons were Danny Steel, Tony Fell and Mark Lamb.

Lindal Moor A and West Shore A are just two points further back.

It was the Walney squad’s bye week, which enabled the pack to close up on them.

The youthful (with a few exceptions) Lindal squad travelled to Dalton Cricket and came away with an excellent 10-5 victory. The top two of John Preston and Derek Naylor were in fine form, with John Sharples and Eddie Steel replying for the Cricketers.

West Mount still fancy their chances of promotion and continued their good form with a 10-4 home win against the Police.

Jack Hawkrigg, Craig Butler and Peter Crossthwaite all earned single-figure victories for the Mounties, while the evergreen Derek Buck was the best winner for the Police.

The best success of the week came from the Coop second string, who inflicted a 13-1 defeat on a depleted Kings Head side.

Alan Turner, Geoff McDonald and Mike Moore were the big winners for the Dane Avenue squad, while young Harry Tomsett saved his club's blushes in fine style with a 21-7 victory.

The form of their first team seems to be rubbing off on Askam A, as they travelled to Glaxo’s second string and were rewarded with a 12-3 triumph.

Ian Clough, Derek Porter and Billy Sears led the way with impressive victories, while Dennis Kavanagh replied in style for the works team.
