NORTH Scale continued their fine start to the Walney Island Bowling League season with an impressive 10-2 win on home soil over Barrow Island A.

Jason Johnson and Glyn Stevens were the pick of the bunch for the home side in the Polyroof Products-sponsored league, both clinching single-figure wins.

Ronnie Walmsley and Terry Marshall replied for the visitors.

In a trimmed down Easter programme, Barrow Island defeated South End 9-3 at Cavendish Park.

Lee Barnard and Joe Wardman picked up good wins for the hosts, while father and son Stuart and Zach Walker stood out for South End, both taking their games 21-16.

King Alfred A won 10-3 at the Police.

Jenny Dyer ensured that all three aggregate points returned to the Alfred with a superb 21-9 success. Ian Pearson and Gary Hogg also won well for the visitors.

Despite a first defeat of the season for the Police, Sue Batte and Mike Burns came up with excellent victories to keep the aggregate close.
