KIRKBY were the stars of the show in Division Two of the Alan Myerscough-sponsored Ulverston and District Bowling League.

The village side managed a 14-0 clean sweep as they entertained a Glaxo A side who could not get to grips with the difficult green.

Top man Noel McAlley was in fine form for Kirkby, winning 21-8, a score matched by team-mates Don Marshall and Malcolm Cleasby.

The result helped them move into second place, behind a West Shore side who hit the 10 games unbeaten mark after an excellent 11-4 success at West Mount.

Paul Wrathall was the star man, with a 21-8 victory, while Jamie Boardman continued his good form with a 21-9 triumph of his own for the Walney team.

For the Mounties, Colin Taylor was in unstoppable mood, cruising to a 21-5 win.

Hawcoat Park A are moving themselves into position to challenge for promotion and, with an 11-4 victory at Walney Park A, few would doubt they will be up among the contenders come September.

Geoff Maudsley took the bragging rights with a 21-7 victory, with Paul Davies weighing in with a single-figure result of his own.

For the Walney outfit, Lee Smith continued his fine form with a 21-5 win.

Roose A have struggled so far this year. However they are showing signs of improvement and tied the games on their visit to Police, although they lost the aggregate points, and therefore the match 8-6.

This was due to the Police having great single-figure wins in four match-ups. Brian and Alan Slater, Ian Hutt and Terry Shankland were their stars.

Phil Kelly has taken to the game well and will be chuffed with his 21-8 success for Roose.

Dalton CC A visited Co-op A and managed to take seven games. However, they had to give a game away which did not help their cause as they lost the aggregate, meaning the match was tied at seven-all.

George Ackred and Peter Jeffries were the stand-out players for the Co-op in a match where most of the games went down to the wire. The Cricketers’ star once again was top man Harry Dagger.

Askam A and Kings Head fought out the remaining fixture in Division Two.

Askam had too much for the Kings on their own green, cruising to an 11-3 victory, with old timer Norman Milburn and youngster Shaun Fisher showing that age is no boundary at either end of the scale as they led the way.

Another youngster having a fine season is the Kings Head’s Liam Tomsett, who continued his form with a 21-14 win at top man.
