KING Alfred pulled off a Furness and District Women’s Bowling League Division Two victory at Hawcoat Park A in a very close game.

Both teams had five winners each, but the pub side had the better aggregate and took the match 7-5.

Abbey had a good 8-3 win against Askam A, with excellent performances from Jenny King, Norma Wheeler and Kay Leech.

Walney Park and Dalton CC both took their matches by the same 8-3 scoreline, while West Mount defeated Co-op A 7-4 to put themselves into fourth place.

In Division One, Ulverston Cons only lost one game at Red River, which went to Val Willis, 21-14. The rest of the Ulverston players put up some excellent scores to win 11-1.

Second-placed Biggar Bank won well at Roose A. Sue Batte and Anita Wight showed good form for the visitors, with Elaine Ryland, Sandra Johnson and Joan Cupid scoring ppints for the home team.

King Alfred won well at home to Hawcoat Park, only losing two games and Co-op beat Roose 7-4.

Askam entertained Dalton and there were some excellent games and some tight ends with the away team managing to triumph 8-4.
