FURNESS start their Federation of Crown Green Bowls Division Three season with a tough match against Colne Valley this weekend.

The sides meet on Sunday, with Furness looking to avenge their only defeat of last season against the Division Four champions.

The south Cumbria side finished third last season and the teams are joined in Division One by Division Four runners-up Wallasey, relegated Ormskirk and Mid Cheshire, who retained their Division Three status by finishing third last year.

This weekend’s home leg takes place at King Alfred Bowling Club, Walney. The match starts at 2pm, with the home team practising between 1.15pm and 1.30pm. Admission is free and supporters are welcome.

The away leg will be played at Golcar Liberal Bowling Club, Huddersfield.
