Colonel Jones was in fine form in the Alan Myerscough-sponsored competition, winning 21-6, while Eddie France saved the Hawcoat second string from a whitewash.
Coop travelled to Ulverston Cons A and were delighted to bring back an 11-point haul. Five of their winners were named Dave, with Pedley and Dawes leading the way. Mark Lamb replied well for the Cons.
It went to the wire in the match between Roose and King Alfred. Roose took seven games but lost the aggregate by 11 chalks, meaning the Alfred took the match 8-7.
Danny Edmonds had a tremendous 21-5 win back on his old stamping ground, with Tom Harris performing best for Roose.
Barrow Island and Salthouse also fought out a tight encounter, tying six-all in games, with the House just taking the aggregate and the match 9-6.
Chris Lloyd kept up his fine form with a 21-9 victory for Salthouse, with Island’s top two, Stew Turnbull and Steve Hunter, winning well.
Hawcoat Park regained top spot with an 11-3 success against Walney Park. Geoff Maudsley and Roy Moxham both recorded excellent wins for Hawcoat, while Roy’s namesake Luke Moxham replied well for Walney, backed up by a terrific win for Stan Halesworth at top man.
Hawcoat’s leap to the top was made easier by Post Office inflicting the first defeat of the season on a Glaxo team that had been in fine form.
The Posties triumped 9-5, with Johnno Kell, Roly West and Eddie Backhouse leading the way. Derek Bell is now hitting form and won well for the works outfit.
Askam travelled to a Lindal Moor side used to winning easily on their notoriously difficult green, but the Sandrats came away with plenty of credit, managing to take five games.
Don Logan was the pick of Askam’s winners, while Danny Smith and Alex Spelman were top performers for the Moor.
Captains are reminded that games now start at 6pm.
