RAIDERS talisman Liam Harrison has spent a fifth day in hospital after collecting an injury during Barrow’s sensational win at York City Knights last week.

The testimonial man has an infection in his arm and is on antibiotics at Furness General. It is hoped the pack ace will be released soon, but he will not play against Hunslet Hawks at Craven Park tomorrow (kick-off 3.30pm).

A concerned Raiders coach Paul Crarey (pictured) said: “They have just changed his medication a little bit, trying to shift it, he won’t play now. He’s got some kind of infection in his arm. He is still in hospital which is a concern, but Liam is quite positive. He in the best place to sort it out.

“Once it starts clearing up I think they will let him out but they just want a reaction to the antibiotics first I think.”

His absence and that of Danny Morrow, who is serving a five-match ban, has left a huge hole in the pack for the fourth round Super 8s clash.

Bradd Crellin stepped into the breech at Bootham Crescent and capped a great performance with the final try of the game in the 20-6 victory as Barrow made it six wins on the bounce. Brad Brennan also featured, coming off the bench to put in a solid display.

James Duerden and Andrew Dawson, both of whom have been injured, have put their hands up for the Hawks clash, while Andy Litherland will have a head test after concussion at Doncaster which saw him miss last week’s trip to Bootham Crescent.

Looking ahead to the match, which will see Barrow secure a top-five play-off place if they secure the win against the Yorkshire outfit, Crarey said: “We know how good they can be because they absolutely towelled us at their place and they went to Keighley and won, which is no mean feat, but they have just probably been a bit inconsistent.

“We know how tough they can be, we can’t fall into the trap, because now our discipline is good and we have become a good footballing side

“We are looking forward to it there are some lads coming in and what we said to them is we don’t want them to upset the balance of the team, we have got a winning culture, if they come in play well they will stay in, that’s what we’ve done all year.

“The side now is a little bit different to where it was two or three weeks ago so it is slowly changing with the circumstances, but again they are still performing.”

He added: “Matty Holmes has been magnificent in his first year and Bradd Crellin had a tremendous game last week and the game time for both of them did them really good.”

Looking ahead to the fourth round match, Crarey said: “I think it will be brutal, the two encounters we had with them were very physical.

“It’s a game they’ve got to win to stay in the play-offs, it’s a game if we win we secure our place in the play-offs, so it’s massive in terms that we don’t want to let all the hard work of the last three weeks to do down the pan with a lacklustre performance. We want to be on it from minute one.

“We just want to try and do it for the people who have supported us and we want to make the five so badly that we don’t want to leave it late. We want to get it done and dusted so we can relax a little bit and try and aim for the three after that. We want a home draw.”

Hunslet coach Matt Bramald said: “We’ve got some improving to do in terms of defensive work close to our line. We’ll get challenged at Barrow all over the park so we’re going to have to better than we were last week for definite.

“Barrow have found some form and they’ve got some quality players.

“They’re always difficult to beat at home but they’ve found some form away from home in the play-offs. It will be a tough afternoon up there, apart from Toulouse, they’re probably the form team.”
