The Raiders squad will travel down to stay in a hotel on Friday night followed by flying out to France at 8am on Saturday and returning home at 9pm, with the chance for a limited number of supporters to join them on the flight as well.
It means Paul Crarey’s side have been able to avoid the sort of nightmare trip York City Knights endured for the play-off semi-final against Toulouse Olympique last weekend and Barrow chairman Sharpe is delighted with the outcome.
“We’re happy with that because the players will travel down the night before, stay in a hotel and get a good night’s sleep,” said Sharpe.
“It’s probably easier than taking a bus to somewhere like Rochdale and probably more comfortable than any bus journey, so we’re very pleased with that outcome.
“We spoke to the RFL and there were a couple of options, and that’s how it’s been able to be sorted. They’ve put a charter plane on and it will be just Barrow players and Barrow supporters.”
There is space for 36 supporters to join the players and staff on the flight to Toulouse, although these are on a first come, first served basis and anyone wishing to be on the flight must make their own way to Manchester Airport.
There is a deadline of Thursday for bookings as well and, while Sharpe acknowledged it does not leave much time for fans to make plans for travelling, he is happy there is at least an option for those who would like to attend the match.
“It’s fantastic because I know there were a few who were going to make their way there, but to know we could ultimately get 50 to 100 people there, it’s great for the team to have some support over there,” said Sharpe.
“They’ve only got until Thursday, but unfortunately it couldn’t be done any quicker. It’s impossible, really.”
Anyone interested in booking a place on the flight should phone the Rugby Shop on 01229 824454. Passport details must be confirmed and payment received within 24 hours of booking.
