JERMAINE Coleman expects his London Skolars side to feel a backlash from Barrow Raiders in tomorrow's Kingston Press League One Super Eights clash.

Paul Crarey's side head to the New River Stadium aiming to make it eight wins in a row, along with avenging the regular-season loss to the same opponents on their home ground.

Skolars head coach Coleman is wary of the dangers posed by the Raiders and has warned his side they must be prepared to front up if they are to get anything out of the game.

“Barrow are in a brilliant vein of form and I don’t doubt they will come down fired up after their last performance here,” said Coleman.

“It will be a very tough game for us but it’s another challenge and another opportunity for our blokes to stand up and be counted. Hopefully they will do that.

“If not, then we could be on the back end of a wrong score, which would be very disappointing at this stage of the season.”

The two sides' fortunes could hardly have been much different since the Skolars beat Barrow 42-34 back in June, with tomorrow's hosts being without a victory since winning 22-6 away to South Wales Scorpions on June 19.

Coleman's side find themselves propping up the Super Eights and on a six-game losing streak, having suffered a 30-10 loss at Keighley Cougars last time out.

“It was very disappointing,” said Coleman, reflecting on that loss. “We’re now playing teams that are able to capitalise on our errors and unfortunately, as a team, we aren’t quite there yet.

“Some of that may be inexperience at playing at this level under different types of pressure, some of that is an inability as a team to learn and manage a game.”
