The first meeting between the sides in the Co-operative Championship came in the year Barrow would win the title, but the French outfit got the better of the eventual champions at the Stade des Minimes.

Having gone behind to a converted try from Sebastian Planas after five minutes, the visitors led 12-10 at the interval thanks tries from James Nixon and Chris Larkin, plus a penalty and a conversion from Darren Holt.

Another penalty from Holt edged the Raiders further ahead nine minutes after the restart, only for converted scores from Cedric Gay and Constance Villegas to snatch the French side's fifth win in a row after a difficult start to life in the competition.

A second-half hat-trick from Liam Campbell helped Barrow storm to their first victory on French soil, with the sides having been level at 16-16 at half time.

Tries from Matt James, Liam Harrison and Zeb Luisi were cancelled out by home scores from Antoni Maria, Gay and Kevin Larroyer, while Jamie Rooney and Toulouse's Nathan Wynn kicked two conversions each to ensure it was deadlocked at the break.

It was all Barrow when play resumed though, with Campbell running in three tries, Andy Ballard and Anthony Blackwood grabbing one each, and Rooney kicked another four conversions while the defence shut out Toulouse to help secure a memorable triumph.

The 2011 season proved a tough one for both clubs, with the French side pulling out of the league system in this country to return to playing in their home competition at the end of the year and Barrow being relegated after being stripped of their points due to salary cap breaches.

But they produced another thriller at the Stades des Minimes towards the end of the campaign, which resulted in Barrow overturning a narrow two-point deficit at half time to secure victory.

Two Mathieu Mercier tries and one from Tony Gigot – two of which were converted – saw the visitors 16-6 down midway through the first half, with Ballard's converted score account for Barrow's points.

Harrison then went over and Ballard added his second, with another converted Gigot try followed by Larkin dotting down and Rooney converting just before the interval to ensure the match was still alive at the break.

Harrison, Blackwood and Ballard all crossed after half time to put Barrow 36-22 up after 63 minutes and although Toulouse hit back through Mercier's hat-trick try, with Damien Couturier adding the extras, Mark Gleeson's converted score on the final hooter put the seal on the win.
