JOE Hambley has left Barrow Raiders to join former head coach Dave Clark at Cumbrian rivals Workington Town.

The 20-year-old utility three-quarter spent three seasons at Craven Park, but managed just one appearance during the 2016 Kingstone Press League One season, which came off the interchange bench in the 37-18 win at North Wales Crusaders.

Clark is excited to have the former Cumbria Academy player and Ulverston amateur on board and believes he has the necessary attributes to help Town bounce back after being relegated from the Championship.

“Joe is a tall rangy back who has size, strength and excellent defensive skills,” said Clark. “He’ll add pace and power to the team.

“I’ve coached him and for a young lad he is very professional and extremely committed to training.

"He’ll go well for us this year and I’m sure his adaptability and range of skills will be utilised at times through the season.”
