THREE members of Furness Raiders' National College Cup final squad will be taking on the Australians this November after being called into the England Colleges squad.

Jake Carter, Jake Stockdale and Tyler Lancaster are part of the 24-man squad for the clash with the Australian Schoolboys, which will be played at Newcastle Thunder's Kingston Park home on November 25.

The trio will spend a week with the England Colleges team in a training camp as well, working alongside the England Academy in Leeds, and former Furness Raiders coach Darren Carter is delighted for them.

"It's obviously good news for us and great news for those lads as well," said Carter. "For the two Jakes especially, it's been three years in the making.

"When the team was established, we sent a few players for the trial and nobody got selected.

"We were new, but it shows when you start stamping your authority down and performing on the field, people start taking notice of you.

"Over the last three years, we've gone from being not on the radar to players getting in there, which is great for the club and everyone involved."

Danny Wright was called up too, but has had to withdraw from the squad due to needing surgery on his ACL.

Matty Brown missed out on selection following the final trial as well, although he has another year of eligibility.

And Carter believes both Brown and the younger members of the Furness squad will have plenty more opportunities to impress the England coaches.

"They're sitting up and taking notice of Barrow, and it's good for the players going forward because that's always going to be there for them," said Carter.

"They've opened the doors for them now, so if they perform there are opportunities for them to get selected and put themselves in the shop window because they'll definitely take notice of the Barrow programme."
