PAUL Crarey called on his Barrow Raiders players to make sure they finish the job after securing home advantage for both the Kingstone Press League One play-off semi-finals and a potential final.

Yesterday's 32-18 victory at home to Keighley Cougars in the the final Super Eights game made certain of the runners-up spot for the Raiders, with Newcastle Thunder visiting in this Sunday's semi-final.

A promotion decider with either Whitehaven or York City Knights awaits the winner and Barrow head coach Crarey is eager for his side not to let the work done up to this point go to waste.

“It's going to be tough against Newcastle and they're the form team," said Crarey. "But winning on the road and battling away sometimes takes its toll, and it can be one game too far.

"Hopefully that will happen, but we don't want to lose our 100 per cent home record and we definitely want to be in in the play-off final.

"We've done the hard work to get two home games and we need carry it through, and it's all about attitude and mental preparation.

"They're a great bunch of kids, these; they listen and they work so hard, and I'm so proud of them to get to this stage of the season with the league as it is this year, and we need to give it our best shot."

Crarey is optimistic try-scorers Shane Toal, who was carried off, Nathan Mossop and Lewis Charnock will have recovered from injuries picked up against Keighley in time to feature against Newcastle.

And he was pleased to see his side get over the line, particularly with some tiredness still lingering from the trip out to Canada to play to Toronto Wolfpack the week before.

"All we wanted to do to was win," said Crarey. "We talked to the lads after the game and Dalli (Jamie Dallimore) said his legs were heavy and it was like a pre-season game in November.

"We just couldn't get going, but I thought second half we managed the game. We wanted to go route one, we took some kicks early on because they had eight sets more than us in the first half.

"It was a great win, really. We wanted to get second place on merit and we've done that."
