PAUL Crarey was left feeling there is still room for improvement after Barrow Raiders battled to a 14-10 victory over Doncaster at a wet and wild Craven Park yesterday.

Tries from Jamie Dallimore and Brett Carter - plus two conversions and a penalty from the former - helped the hosts make it two wins from as many games in the Kingstone Press League One Super Eights.

But Doncaster had taken the lead through Brad England and kept the game tight with a late try from Jack Miller, with Raiders head coach Crarey seeking better game management from his side in their upcoming matches.

"I thought we managed the game for 70 minutes and came up with an error where they kicked the ball through and it was game on," said Crarey.

"Even with time up, we've managed to put the ball down on play one rather than finding the sideline or touch, and walking into a scrum and seeing the game out.

"That's something we need to address with our game management at times, but the game was fast and furious for atrocious conditions.

"But we got the win – that's all that really matters now. We're two from two in the Eights against two very good teams and we got Doncaster at a good time because towards the back end of the Eights, in the dry, they'll settle down with the players they've got and cause teams a lot of problems."

Barrow head to Newcastle Thunder this Saturday aiming to make it three wins in a row in the Super Eights and take a step closer to making certain of a place in the play-offs, having won 50-6 there during the regular season.

But with York City Knights losing 22-20 at Keighley Cougars just a week after becoming the first team to defeat Toronto Wolfpack, Crarey knows the Raiders cannot afford to ease up.

"It was job done for us," said Crarey. "Doncaster on the back of a defeat against Keighley was always going to be difficult, so just to get the win and push on for Newcastle this Saturday.

"The points are in the bag and if you look around, everyone is beating everyone else and I think Whitehaven have got a big job on when they have to go down to Doncaster.

"They stretched us and they're starting to fire under Richard (Horne, head coach) – and that's good for us. We've just got to keep winning and look after ourselves, and hold on around second or third."
