THREE tries from Eze Harper helped Barrow Raiders to a comfortable victory in Saturday evening's Kingstone Press League One match at home to Oxford.

In total, the home side ran in 14 tries, with Lewis Charnock kicking 12 conversions, having led 56-0 at half time before both sides had a man sent off for fighting early in the second half.

Oxford did manage to hit back with scores from Harrison Brough and Harvey Burnett, but there was no way back for them as the Raiders warmed up for next week's all-important derby with Whitehaven in perfect fashion.

Second row Dannty Morrow put Barrow ahead after just two minutes by finishing off Barrow's first attack of the game when he was set up by Jamie Dallimore, with Lewis Charnock adding the extras.

A converted score from Brad Marwood, darting in from dummy-half, four minutes later was then swiftly followed by Morrow's second, although Charnock hit the posts with his conversion attempt.

That made little difference though and four converted tries from Dallimore, Shane and Dan Toal, and Ryan Johnston – playing at full-back – in the space of seven minutes saw the Raiders take complete control.

Centre Harper then completed his treble before half time, first finishing off a move from a tap penalty, then racing 95 metres to score after collecting a chip kick and finally racing in from 60 metres to take Barrow past the half-century mark.

Tensions boiled over five minutes into the second half when Jordan Siddons took exception to being held down too long in a tackle and received his marching orders from referee John McMullen after consultation with his touch judges, with Matty While also being dismissed for running in.

An unconverted score in the corner from winger Brough and a try from second row Burnett, who also added the extras, gave Oxford some consolation, but further tries from Brett Carter, Ollie Wilkes, Joe Bullock and Tom Walker – all of which were converted by Charnock – gave the scoreline an even more lopsided look.
