A MASTERCLASS from Jamie Dallimore helped Barrow Raiders set up an all-Cumbria Kingstone Press League One play-off final as they overcame Newcastle Thunder 60-0 on Sunday.

Raiders stand-off Dallimore racked up a total of 28 points with two tries, eight conversions and a penalty in an outstanding all-round display, although he was far from the only one to make an impact as Newcastle were put to the sword.

Shane Toal took his tally for the season to 22 tries, while Brad Marwood made it seven tries in as many appearances for the team this year with two as well.

All of this came after the Raiders were forced into making three changes from the declared 19-man squad, with Nathan Mossop failing a fitness test on the foot injury picked up the previous week against Keighley Cougars, and Martin Aspinwall and Bradd Crellin both coming down with illness.

That saw Danny Morrow and Dan Toal replace Crellin and Aspinwall in the second row and at loose forward respectively, while Marwood came onto the bench as interchange hooker and Matty While stepped up to the bench as well.

Newcastle made the stronger start and forced a drop-out early on, yet it was the Raiders who took the lead two minutes in with their first real attack of the game when Dallimore sent Ollie Wilkes powering through to score with a pass from dummy-half, followed by the stand-off kicking the conversion.

A superb one-handed offload from Jarrad Stack then set up winger Toal for his 21st try of the season out wide which was also converted, and that was followed on 18 minutes by Lewis Charnock setting up half-back partner Dallimore to dart through a gap in the defence for third converted score.

Thunder had opportunities after this, but errors proved costly for the visitors and Barrow moved further ahead just as the hooter sounded for half time when a move from a scrum led to Fieldhouse setting up Carter for an unconverted score out wide.

Dallimore was unable to convert, but kicked a penalty from in front of the posts eight minutes into the second half. Two minutes later, full-back Fieldhouse finished off a lightning attack involved both Marwood and Wilkes for Barrow's fourth try and it was then the floodgates opened.

Toal grabbed his second when he pulled down a kick to the corner from Charnock, then Marwood burrowed his way over, followed by Charnock and then Dallimore going over.

And the finishing touch came when Marwood was sent racing away for his second try two minutes from time and kicked the conversion too.

Barrow now face county rivals Whitehaven at home on October 1 after Carl Forster's men defeated York City Knights 21-20 in the third period of extra time.
