THERE can be few teams who know each other better than Barrow Raiders and Keighley Cougars as the sides prepare for their fifth meeting of the 2017 season.

Along with playing each other in a pre-season friendly and the league, Barrow and Keighley were also drawn against each other in both cup competitions – and could yet face each other again in the play-offs.

That would require the Cougars to win tomorrow's final Kingstone Press League One Super Eights clash at Craven Park, plus other results to go their way, setting up a return to Cumbria the following Sunday.

But Raiders want to make certain of securing second place, and head coach Paul Crarey knows his side can expects to once again feel the full force of Keighley.

"They've had a bit of an indifferent season, but we've played them a lot and we know what they're all about," said Crarey.

"We know they'll be really physical because they always are, so we've got to be ready for that.

"They've got a great short-kicking game, some big forwards and it will be James Feather's last game if they get knocked out, so we've got to be ready and they'll see us as vulnerable after travelling and having a hard game."

Feather, who brings the curtain down a 15-year career at Cougar Park at the end of the season, managed to sign off in his final home game for Keighley with a try as they beat Workington Town 28-6 last week.

That kept alive the West Yorkshire side's hopes of being involved in the post-season promotion shake-up, while Raiders' superior points difference means they are in pole position to take second place despite last Saturday's 26-2 defeat to Toronto Wolfpack.

Crarey was impressed with the attitude shown by his side against the full-time League One champions and hopes those who were watching back home on television will have seen enough to make them come to cheer on Barrow in the play-offs.

"Hopefully we'll get a big crowd because we deserved one," said Crarey. "I thought we were outstanding in terms of effort and commitment.

"Hopefully the Barrow public will have seen that, and come down and be the extra man because that is what we need in these last few games to get us over the line."
