SHANE Toal and Nathan Mossop will both undergo precautionary fitness tests tomorrow ahead of Barrow Raiders' Kingstone Press League One play-off semi-final at home to Newcastle Thunder.

The duo picked up injuries in last Sunday's 32-18 win at home to Keighley Cougars, with winger Toal being carried off and hooker Mossop pulling up late in the game.

However, Barrow head coach Paul Crarey is optimistic both will be able to feature in this Sunday's home play-off match after being given a tentative thumbs-up by the club's medical staff.

"I think they'll be okay, we're just waiting really," said Crarey. "The doctor says they will be okay; Nathan has had an injection in his foot because he's having problems with his arch.

"He was told not to train for 48 hours and with Shane, they carried him off, but the physio thinks he will be okay, so we'll make a call on that on Saturday. But he's keen to play and they've both said they will be okay."

Eze Harper and Bradd Crellin are both in line to return to the team for the visit of Newcastle, with the winner facing either Whitehaven or York City Knights in the final on October 1.

Tom Loxam and Danny Morrow are the men expected to make way from last week and while Crarey was pleased with how they performed against Keighley, he believes experience will be key against the Thunder.

"We've gone with a more experienced side this week," said Crarey. "Eze will be back in at centre and Bradd Crellin will probably be playing the back row with Jarrad just to give us that experience there."
