SHANE Toal could be lining up against some of his Barrow Raiders team-mates when Scotland face a Cumbrian Select XIII in Liam Harrison's testimonial next month.

The match on Friday, October 21 (kick-off 7pm) doubles up as a warm-up for Scotland's Four Nations bow and Raiders three-quarter Toal is in line for a place in Bravehearts head coach Steve McCormack's squad.

Toal featured for Scotland in last year's European Championship, having progressed from their under-19s, and will be aiming to be part of the team for the end-of-year internationals, which kick off with the Scots facing Australia in Hull on Friday, October 28.

Other players who could be involved against Cumbria are Huddersfield Giants half-back and Scotland captain Danny Brough, plus the likes of Wigan Warriors winger Lewis Tierney, St George Illawarra Dragons centre Euan Aitken and Castleford Tigers forward Frankie Mariano.

The match comes at the end of the first week of Scotland's pre-tournament training camp, which will see them based at Heriot-Watt University's new Oriam sports complex in Edinburgh for the first five days, followed by relocating to the University of Central Lancashire's Sir Tom Finney Sports Arena in Preston ahead of the opening game.

Meanwhile, Morgan Knowles has been named in Wales' 29-man train-on squad for their upcoming Rugby League World Cup qualifiers.

The Barrow-born forward, who was recently named St Helens' young player of the year, will be aiming to add to his one appearance for the team which came against Scotland in last year's European Cup.

Wales are in Pool A of the European qualifiers and kick off their bid to reach next year's tournament, which will be co-hosted by Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, on October 15 against Serbia in Llanelli.

They then travel to Italy on October 29, with the team finishing top of the group playing the winner of Pool B, which contains Ireland, Russia and Spain, at Leigh Sports Village to determine the final qualifier on November 5.
