JORDAN White wants to build on his goal against Leyton Orient on go on a consistent scoring run for Barrow AFC.

The 25-year-old striker ended a run of 10 matches without finding the net when he scored the equaliser in last weekend's 2-2 draw.

He heads to Shaw Lane with the Bluebirds tomorrow hopeful of adding to his tally of four for the season with a first-ever FA Cup goal (3pm kick-off).

“There were half of the games where I didn't start, so that interrupted me a wee bit,” said White, who started five matches in his 10-game scoreless streak, and was a used substitute – albeit for only a handful of minutes on occasion – in the others. “There were games where I felt I should have scored, and maybe I was getting a bit frustrated, but as a striker that is one thing that always happens – it's how you deal with it.

“Luckily, I got my goal at the weekend, and I want to go on and score more goals for Barrow.”

While he did find the net in the first half last weekend, White also saw a goal-bound second-half effort blocked on the line as a tangle of players came down in front of him.

The shot appeared to hit strike parter Byron Harrison as he stumbled to the ground, denying a potential winner.

But White was able to look back on the opportunity philosophically, and said: “I'm not even sure it was him that it hit, because it happened so fast. On another day, if we're on a run of winning games, they're the ones that go in all day, and it feels like it's easy again.

“As long as you keep working hard, you will put things right.”

Harrison himself is looking to end a mini-drought in front of goal, having gone three matches without scoring on the back of three goals in two matches against Torquay United and Sutton United.

But, much as Harrison had praise for White earlier in the campaign, the Scotsman is also quick to highlight his strike partner's skills, and is positive there will be more to come in the very near future.

“You saw Byron last year that he's a very talented player,” said White. “I really enjoy playing with him up-front.

“He's had a wee run of not scoring, but he's been unlucky as well. There have been times where he maybe thinks he should have scored, but then he gets a goal chalked off last weekend – and it was touch and go, I'm not sure if it was offside.

“He will score goals. We've got to believe in what we've got going forward.”
