PAUL Ogden has resigned from his role as Barrow AFC's Head of Football Operations after just two months in the role.

Ogden - brought to the club originally in February 2016 as chief scout under former boss Paul Cox - has decided to step down from his position for personal reasons after discussions with his family.

Bluebirds chairman Paul Casson said: "I would like to thank Paul Ogden for all of his work for the club, both in his position as Chief Scout and as Head of Football Operations.

"Paul has recruited amazing players for the club and I hope I will be able to continue my relationship with him into the future. I have always had good conversations with Paul and his knowledge of the game has been instrumental to our success.

"However, it is now time to look forward and recruit a new Head of Football who can take the footballing side to the next level. I am confident we can find the right man for the job, to work with the manager closely to build and develop a strong squad to compete now and in the future."

A club statement said they were looking for "a person with vision, strong leadership qualities and a desire to win. The chosen candidate will be responsible for developing our footballing identity and will oversee the execution of that identity in all areas, including scouting and youth development.

"As a club, we place a keen emphasis on professionalism and high standards as we progress and build the infrastructure of the club. The renamed Head of Football will ensure that everyone on the football side of the club, from the manager and players, to the physio and medical team, knows what is expected of them, and has access to everything they need in order to reach those standards."

Managing director Andrew Casson has stressed the importance of finding the right person to fill the now vacant role and establishing a strong foundation to move forward. Applications should be sent to Andrew Casson at: office@barrowafc.com. The application deadline is Friday October 13.
