MICKY Moore will be forced to change his formation as Barrow AFC head to Tranmere tomorrow.

Midfielder Alex-Ray Harvey picked up a red card in the 2-1 win over Boreham Wood last weekend, and will miss the next three matches.

With central defender Thierry Audel almost certain to be missing due to a concussion picked up in the 1-1 draw against Maidenhead two weeks ago, the interim Barrow boss has decisions to make for the trip to Prenton Park (3pm kick-off).

Harvey's suspension leaves Barrow with only two central midfielders fit to play against Rovers – Bedsente Gomis and Asa Hall.

Attacking midfielder Donovan Makoma, who made his only AFC start to date in the 1-0 loss at AFC Fylde last week, and wide man Liam Hughes are available, along with winger Bradley Bauress.

Both Bauress and Makoma were unused substitutes in the Boreham Wood match, with Hughes not among the match-day 17.

Moore's two other midfield options – David Fitzpatrick and Andy Parry – are both on the sidelines, with the former hopefully back from his knee issue within the next few weeks, but the latter a longer-term casualty.

A switch to 4-4-2 from the 3-5-2 deployed more regularly this season by both Moore and predecessor Paul Cox is likely, and the Bluebirds interim boss said: “It probably means a change of shape, and somebody has to come in because we have lost Al-Ray. That will mean us changing shape from what we did on Saturday.”

The departure of striker Dan Cockerline to Southport in midweek, and the exit of goalkeeper Sam Ramsbottom following the end of his short-term contract, leave Moore with 16 players for the trip to Tranmere, unless Audel comes through a further assessment of his concussion.

“He has been doing light training, but he hasn't taken part in physical training with the players,” Moore said of the Frenchman, who is more likely to be seen in the squad again for one of the matches against either Guiseley or Torquay United next week.

“Vanessa (France), the club doctor, assessed him on Saturday, did a test, and he was down on where she would have hoped he would be. She will assess him again over the weekend or into next week, but I don't foresee him being available for selection on Saturday. He's not 100 per cent ruled out, but it is unlikely.

“I'd like to think by next week he will be in contention.”
