BARROW AFC duo Shaun Beeley and Alex-Ray Harvey are set to resume full training this week ahead of Saturday’s trip to Forest Green Rovers.

Full-back Beeley has been sidelined since early August with a groin issue, but scans of the injury have given the Bluebirds hope and he was close to featuring in Saturday’s 2-0 victory against York .

Harvey sat out the match with the Minstermen after tweaking ligaments in his groin during the previous week’s triumph at Lincoln .

He had hoped to play against York, but boss Paul Cox did said the midfielder was not 100 per cent and did not want to be risked.

Both men could play for the Bluebirds in a midweek behind-closed-doors game against Fleetwood Town ahead of the second-versus-third National League clash at Forest Green three days later.

Cox said: “Beels, I was really tempted to throw in against York. He’s right now.

“I can’t afford to lose players like Beels and Al-Ray. They’re an integral part of the squad – not just as footballers, but as people.

“Al-Ray tweaked his knee ligaments, but came back and trained in the later stages of the week. He pulled up on Friday, and wasn’t 100 per cent. It’s the mark of Al-Ray Harvey at the minute – he doesn’t want to let the boys down. He knew he wasn’t 100 per cent right, and he told us the truth, which is really important.

“He should be fit for next week to train, and hopefully for next Saturday.

“Beeley trained in the latter stages of the week as well, but we just thought it was too early to throw him into the York game. We knew it was going to be intense, we knew we were going to be playing against a tough outfit who wanted to claim the points.

“We’ll bed him in, probably give him 45 (against Fleetwood), and bed him in for next Saturday.”
