STRIKER Byron Harrison was happy to up sticks and leave London for Barrow in the summer.

The AFC hitman has struck six goals in his last six matches and is proving an astute signing for manager Paul Cox.

Harrison, 29, joined the Bluebirds only a fortnight before the start of the National League season, following his release by Chesterfield in the summer.

The move saw him make a switch from being based in London to now living close to the AFC training base at Hopwood Hall, in Greater Manchester.

At the time, he told Barrow chairman Paul Casson it had felt like he was travelling to Greenland, such was the length of time it took to reach the town by train the night before his pre-season debut against Carlisle United.

But Harrison says he is willing to move wherever it takes to push his footballing career on, and said: “The first day, I came up by train from London to Barrow. I came up the night before the Carlisle game and it was a long old journey, but I hadn't had the pre-season minutes by then and I realised I needed to come up, as the season was only a week or so away.

“Playing for a club miles away, with it just being myself and not having a young family, I can uproot and play anywhere. That's the kind of person I am anyway.”
