STAR striker Byron Harrison was the toast of the town as his two goals sent Barrow AFC into the FA Cup third round.

The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all await as potential opponents for the Bluebirds after Harrison took his tally for the season to 19 with a Bristol Rovers brace.

Striking in the 16th and 62nd minutes, the AFC front man was at his clinical best to see AFC come from behind and knock out their League One opponents .

“It’s terrific,” said Harrison when asked how it felt following his Memorial Stadium double.

“To be in the third round for Barrow is great, and hopefully there can be another great day out for the club as well.

“Everyone is excited. I’m tired, but I’m very excited. I’ll be looking at the draw, like everyone else does, hoping that we get the reward for our hard work.

“I’m an Arsenal fan, so I’ll always want that, but we’ve got a lot of northern lads in the team, so any of those big northern clubs would be superb as well.”

Harrison scored his first on one of many occasions he was played in behind the back of a Rovers defence who often struggled with him and strike partner Richie Bennett.

He calmly slotted home to send the 374 travelling fans into raptures, then sent them higher still with his second just after the hour-mark, turning in a Liam Hughes cross with Barrow’s first real attack of a half where Bristol had started to dominate.

“They play an expansive game, so there were spaces there and I just tried to get into them.

“Sometimes it’s just instinctive to be in the right places,” said the former Stevenage and Cheltenham striker, well known in the West Country for his time with the Robins.

“Luckily enough today, I was able to get on the end of them.

“They are a very good Football League club, and to come here with our following and get a result – we didn’t have a lot of the ball, but we showed plenty of guts and that saw us through.

“You have to be clinical, We rode our luck a little bit and they had a couple of chances. I think it was a blessed day for us.

“I want to thank those supporters for travelling down to watch us play, and hopefully they will get a big day out in the third round.”
