GUISELEY have postponed Barrow AFC's National League match at Nethermoor on Saturday because of a frozen pitch.

A pitch inspection was carried out at 6.30pm on Friday – ahead of the scheduled kick-off at 3pm the following afternoon – and judged that parts of the playing surface were frozen.

Temperatures overnight in the Leeds area are forecast to range between 1C and 2C, with the warmth not expected to be more than 4C come Saturday afternoon.

A new date for the game to be played will be announced in the coming days.

News of the postponement came on the day Barrow announced they had signed attacking midfielder Luke James on loan from Forest Green Rovers for the rest of the season.

Guiseley, meanwhile, had lost goalkeeper Jonny Maxted to Accrington Stanley and had landed experienced Republic of Ireland defender Sean St Ledger and Burnley centre-back Harry Flowers.

Barrow's next game will now be the home match against Sutton United on Saturday, January 27.
