PAUL Bignot has departed Barrow AFC after a month without a game for the Bluebirds.
The experienced defender arrived at Holker Street on non-contract terms in September – when elder brother Paul was working as assistant manager to Micky Moore for the Bluebirds.
After making his debut as a substitute in the 1-1 home draw with Torquay United on September 12, Bignot – a former player at Grimsby Town and Newport County, among other clubs – went on to make 11 starts and one further appearance from the bench.
However, the 32-year-old's start in the FA Trophy second round replay defeat against Brackley Town at Holker Street last month was his only appearance of 2018 for the Bluebirds, and he has not even been on the bench in other games since the turn of the year.
Barrow AFC issued a statement confirming Bignot's exit, saying they expected him to join a National League North club.
It said: “Paul Bignot has been released by the club, he is expected to join a National League North club later today.
“Everyone at Barrow AFC thanks him for his efforts for us since joining back in September.”
