BARROW boss Paul Cox saw his side maintain their play-off push with victory at Solihull and added that the next few weeks would be vital for those clubs looking to finish in the top five.

“It’s all to play for with seven games to go,” he said. “I’ve always said there will be some interesting results at this stage of the season.

“Dagenham have had a great result today and yet we’re still only five points off them. I think there are two play-off places to play for and, over the next 10 days to two weeks, those clubs chasing those places will be narrowed down.”

First-half goals from Moussa Diarra, Jordan Williams and Liam Hughes provided the perfect platform for Barrow’s win with Richie Bennett adding a fourth from the penalty spot early in the second half.

And although the home side pulled two goals back late in the game, Cox was understandably pleased with the outcome.

He added: “We became a little complacent for the final half-hour but it’s the result that matters at this stage of the season, not the performance.

“I thought we should have been out of sight by half-time. I know we came in three to the good but we missed some good chances as well.

“We came up against a side that played a 4-5-1 at home and for the first 25 minutes I thought it was going to be one of those frustrating afternoons but we kept working, knocking on the door, and we got our just desserts.

“I’ve watched Solihull a number of times this season and they’ve come back from 3-0 down and I warned the boys about that at half-time. They are a very capable unit and they chucked everything at us second half.

“It was hard to maintain the standards we set in the first especially at this stage in the season – it was warm out there and it was a bobbly pitch but I’m proud of the lads as they worked really hard.”

And he also praised midfielder Alex-Ray Harvey who was handed the captain’s armband to mark his 200th game for the Bluebirds.

“It was a great gesture by Danny Livesey and to be fair to Al-Ray, he’s put in a great captain’s performance,” Cox added. “We need to mention Dan as well though because it shows the type of players we have – they all want to give a little bit.

“Al-Ray has seen some highs and lows but we have seen a consistency pf performance. He understands what we want from him and he’s really knuckled down.”
