MANAGER Paul Cox is working on more deals after Barrow AFC landed Barnsley striker Shaun Tuton on loan until the end of the season.

Andy Haworth has exited Holker Street after having his contract terminated by mutual consent, but Cox hopes there will be one or two other new faces added very soon

“I've been working extremely hard and it has been really tough over the last two weeks as we've tried to improve the squad,” said Cox.

“I think the quality of someone like Tuton, we've got to equal that with players come in.

“We're looking now at other people who might be in for tomorrow (the FA Trophy match against Kidderminster). It's just a case of how quickly we can get things done.”

Tuton, a 25-year-old former FC Halifax Town and Buxton front-man, spent the first half of the season on loan at League Two Grimsby Town, but has since returned to his parent club.

Tuton scored the goal which knocked Barrow out of the FA Trophy at Halifax last season, joining Barnsley a month later, making seven first-team appearances as they won promotion from League One via the play-offs.

He has found his chances limited in the Championship this term, failing to make a single appearance for the Reds, though he did play several times for Grimsby.

Tuton is available to play for Barrow in this weekend's FA Trophy last-16 tie against Kidderminster Harriers.

Haworth, meanwhile, has had his contract with the Bluebirds terminated by mutual consent a week after manager Paul Cox confirmed he has told the winger he could find a new club.

The former Cheltenham Town and Rochdale man has departed Holker Street for National League rivals Macclesfield Town after two years with the club.

Haworth found himself down the pecking order with AFC this season, with Jordan Williams the first-choice winger and Lindon Meikle the man most often chosen to step in if needed.

He started just two games during the campaign, against Bury in the Lancashire Senior Cup and Harrogate Town in the FA Trophy first round replay, making his final substitute appearance in last week's 3-2 defeat to Forest Green Rovers.
