WINGER Lindon Meikle has joined the host of former Barrow AFC players at Southport after moving to Haig Avenue on a month's loan.

The Bluebirds wide man has found chances limited at Holker Street this season, after joining from Alfreton Town in the summer.

He has made just eight starts in an AFC shirts across the National League, FA Trophy and Lancashire Senior Cup, and 15 substitute appearances, scoring his only goal in the FA Trophy first-round replay win over Harrogate Town in December.

The 28-year-old has not been released from his contract – unlike Euan Murray, who joined the Sandgrounders from AFC last month, or winger Andy Haworth, who played against Barrow for new club Macclesfield on Wednesday – but rather is being given the chance to gain match fitness.

Meikle joins Murray, Neil Ashton and Ashley Grimes as Bluebirds players who have headed to Southport in the past year.
